States in the Central and South Central Comprehensive Center (C3/SC3) regions form a peer network to share emerging best practices for implementing the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and improving equitable education. Content experts from C3, SC3, and partners provide access to research, analysis of practices used nationwide, and coaching and thought partnership to state personnel.

This bi-regional collaborative promotes implementation of school and classroom formative assessment best practices and state, regional, and national networking opportunities. Members of the collaborative serve in curriculum, assessment, and school improvement leadership roles in the Central and South Central Comprehensive (C3/SC3) regions' state departments of education.

C3 and its partners are providing support and guidance using best practices for the Colorado Department of Education's (CDE) efforts to plan, design, and carry out an effective academic content standards implementation plan statewide.  

C3 is providing resources and expertise to the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) to strengthen district and school support on how to incorporate high-quality work-based learning (WBL) opportunities into student Individual Plans of Study (IPS).

C3 is supporting the Kansas State Department of Education's (KSDE) efforts to improve its internal performance management and the alignment and integration of its school accreditation process and academic performance measures.

C3 is supporting the Kansas State Department of Education's (KSDE) efforts in planning, reflecting, and guiding the implementation of the Kansans Can School Redesign initiative.

C3 is supporting the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Office of College and Career Readiness (DESE OCCR) by improving its internal operations and processes using the Strategic Performance Management (SPM) process and online system. C3 is also supporting DESE OCCR by developing and delivering an evidenced-based English Learner Development Coaching pilot to five Missouri districts. Additional districts will be added in the 2018-2019 school year.

C3 partner WestEd is supporting the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) by strengthening formative assessment practices to districts and schools. Expertise is also provided on how these practices fit within a comprehensive assessment system framework.

C3 partner WestEd is assisting the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) in identifying early literacy initiatives, aligning and better coordinating efforts, and developing cross-agency actions to meet the objectives of the Colorado Reading to Ensure Academic Development (READ) Act.

C3 partner WestEd is assisting the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) in using the principal evaluation system to inform the development and professional growth of principals.
